Our spiritual patrons and what they mean to the greenhouse for women

St. John Paul II, pray for us.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for us.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

St. John Paul II

St. John Paul II

“Everyone knows John Paul II: his face, his characteristic way of moving and speaking; his immersion in prayer and his spontaneous cheerfulness. Many of his words have become indelibly engraved in our memories, starting with the passionate cry with which he introduced himself to the people at the beginning of his pontificate: ‘Open wide the doors to Christ, and be not afraid of him!’” An entire pontificate is condensed in words like these. It is as though he would like to open the doors for Christ everywhere and wishes to open up to people the gate that leads to true life, to true love.” – Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Our Lady of Mount Carmel

The greenhouse for women was officially launched on the feast day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, patroness of the Carmelite Order. This most ancient title of Mary is a reminder of who she was as a woman of Nazareth, perhaps even ministering through her own “greenhouse” from her home. As well, the Carmelite sisters in Birkenhead, England are special and beloved intercessors of this ministry.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus

Sacred Heart of Jesus

“I will draw all people to myself.” (John 12:32)

The Sacred Heart of Jesus represents his great love for humanity. The entire human race was consecrated to the Sacred Heart by Pope Leo XIII. The Sacred Heart of Jesus is also the patron of families and making him known and loved is the ultimate goal of this ministry.
